Garrett Warfield is Year Up’s Senior Director of Research & Evaluation and oversees all work designed to improve and test the impact of the program. Garrett and his team manage Year Up’s national survey and reporting system, direct three federally-sponsored randomized controlled trials, and manage a large portfolio of rapid-cycle evaluation and data science projects in partnership with leading research firms and universities across the country. Before joining Year Up in 2014, Garrett spent over ten years as a researcher, evaluator, performance manager, and all-around data nerd for government agencies, nonprofits, and universities. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University, an M.Sc . in Criminology with Forensic Psychology from Middlesex University in England, and a Ph.D. in Criminology and Justice Policy from Northeastern University. Garrett and his wife Anna have called Boston home since 2001, and when he’s not dabbling in data, you’ll find Garrett at local parks or the gym teaching martial arts to kids and their remarkably patient parents.
