Liz Walters is currently the Chair for the Ohio Democratic Party. Previously, Liz was a member of the Leap Ambassadors Support Team and Co-Lead for Ambassador Onboarding & Engagement. She has spent her career working on behalf of organizations and people who support progressive values. She has worked for local and national nonprofits and foundations, as a senior aide to Ohio Congresswoman Betty Sutton, and as Executive Director of the Ohio Democratic Party. Most recently, Liz served as the Director of Community Outreach at the International Institute of Akron, Ohio’s largest Refugee Resettlement agency where she led fundraising and communication efforts, including an aggressive local and national media outreach program in response to changing federal rules. She also serves as an At-Large Member of Summit County Council.
Crediting her start in public service to Girl Scouts, Liz got the “bug” as a Legislative Intern for the Girl Scouts of the USA in Washington, DC, after graduating from college. She is a lifetime Girl Scout and has been active with the organization as a member, employee, or volunteer since the age of five.
Liz earned a B.A. in History from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, and her Master’s in Public Administration from Cleveland State University. She resides in Akron with her rescue dog, Beatrice.
