Kathryn Haslanger is the Chief Executive Officer of JASA, one of New York’s leading providers of aging services, reaching 40,000 older adults with social, recreational, health, housing, cultural and educational services.
Kathryn came to JASA from the Visiting Nurse Service of New York where she was responsible for devising the organization’s community benefit strategy and developing new community initiatives, including a state-designated health home to serve high need Medicaid beneficiaries. In addition, she oversaw the organization’s fundraising and volunteer activities. Kathryn previously worked at Maimonides Medical Center, where she was responsible for identifying and developing program and research opportunities to improve the quality and safety of care for patients with multiple chronic illnesses. Before coming to Maimonides, Ms. Haslanger directed the United Hospital Fund of New York’s analytic work in Medicaid, health insurance coverage, and primary care and coordinated the voluntary community’s efforts to enroll 340,000 New Yorkers in Disaster Relief Medicaid in the wake of September 11th. Ms. Haslanger began her career in the City’s Human Resources Administration where she was responsible for Medicaid home care and community-based services for seniors and the disabled.
Trained in law and policy analysis, Ms. Haslanger has honors degrees from Brown University, Boston College Law School, and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She is a member of the board of The Commonwealth Fund and the New York e-Health Collaborative, and she chairs the VNS Health Behavioral Health Advisory Committee.
