Alice Shobe calls herself a “compassionate engineer”. For over 25 years she’s worked to address complex social issues like homelessness and equitable community development. She connects diverse constituencies and develops programs with an eye toward scale. Alice is particularly skilled in supporting leaders to leverage transitions, define clear strategies, and develop implementation approaches. Uniquely, Alice is always thinking beyond strategy to implementation and impact; she helps people at all levels in an organization increase their own and group accountability and ultimately achieve tangible results and lasting change.

Alice has served as the CEO/Executive Director of three nonprofit organizations in Washington State (Building Changes, Philanthropy Northwest, and Impact Capital) and led Sound Families, a $40-million-dollar public private partnership created by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that ultimately tripled the supply of housing for homeless families in three counties. She started her career as a City Planner in suburban Seattle.

In 2007, Alice was one of 16 professionals selected nationwide for the Annie E. Casey Foundation Children and Family Fellowship program, an intensive 20-month leadership development program. Alice is a certified Results Based Facilitation (RBF) trainer and coach. She holds a B.A. in Urban Policy from James Madison College of Michigan State University and lives in Seattle with her husband and two sons.
