In her role as the agency’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Wendy Foster brings more than two decades of executive leadership and a deep passion for youth development to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. Wendy joined the agency ten years ago as Vice President for Program Services and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer. She leverages top-level for-profit management experience as well as product, systems and technology development skills in support of the over 2,400 children who are currently served by the agency in professionally supported 1-to-1 mentoring relationships with adults and the thousands more in eastern Massachusetts the agency is working to reach who need adult role models.
Prior to her move to the Boston area in 2004 and strategic consulting roles with several corporate and nonprofit organizations, Wendy served as a senior executive with America Online (AOL). Prior to AOL, Wendy was a Marketing Director for New Product Development at Time-Life Inc., a division of Time-Warner, and she started her career in direct response advertising in New York City.
Wendy is nationally recognized for her leadership and expertise within the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, and most recently served as Vice Chair of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Nationwide Leadership Council. She co-chairs the Massachusetts state association of Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, and is a board member of the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, a 501 C3 that uses proceeds from donations of used clothing and household items to help support Big Brother Big Sister agencies in Massachusetts.
Wendy is a member of the Program Leadership Council of the Massachusetts Mentoring Partnership and the President’s Council of Cornell Women. She is a member of the LeadBoston Class of 2010, The Boston Club and the Massachusetts Women’s Forum. Wendy is also a Big Sister to Little Sister Shanell. They have been matched for five years. Wendy holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and an M.B.A from The George Washington University. She lives in Brookline with her spouse and has an adult daughter.
