Catherine Lester is a senior associate at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, supporting the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative portfolio. She is responsible for the strategy to advance equitable results across a national network of 17 sites that are focused on ensuring that young people ages 14-26 who have experienced foster care have the relationships, resources and opportunities necessary for their wellbeing and success as they transition to adulthood. Prior to joining the Foundation, Lester led the city of Seattle’s Human Services Department, one of the largest investors in the Puget Sound region. With an annual budget of $170 million and a team of 350, Lester was the principal architect of the department’s equitable results framework. Lester has a Master of Science degree in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
