Peter York is CEO & Founder at Algorhythm – a technology company that leverages social science, data science and technology to build automated, rigorous assessment, planning and evaluation tools.

Pete has extensive experience as a social entrepreneur, consultant, researcher and evaluator in the nonprofit sector, as well as a national spokesperson for social impact issues. For 20 years, Pete has developed and led social impact evaluations and created evaluative learning tools and systems for nonprofits; philanthropic funders and their grantees; and government agencies. Prior to founding Algorhythm, he served as a Senior Partner and Chief Research Officer at TCC Group, where he applied his expertise with organizations such as The California Endowment, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, The Philadelphia Zoo, Camp Fire USA, Gap, Inc. and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s New Jersey Health Initiatives.

Pete is a recognized leader in the fields of program evaluation and nonprofit management and capacity building, having authored book chapters, academic and professional articles, and a book on the topic of evaluation. He is also a popular speaker on these topics. He combined his experience-based expertise with his knowledge of social science measurement techniques and predictive modeling to design and build nationally-recognized organizational assessment tools like the Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT) – while at TCC Group; the Service Enterprise Diagnostic, in collaboration with Points of Light and the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service; and the impact Capacity Assessment Tool (iCAT).

Pete graduated from the Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Science, with an MSSA in Social Service Administration and PhD (ABD) in Social Welfare. While at the Mandel School, he had the opportunity to work at the Center on Urban Poverty and Social Change with Sharon Milligan and Claudia Coulton on the first application of the Theory of Change Approach to evaluating a Comprehensive Community Initiative.
