Life is so much better when you have the right people in the right roles at the right time. That certainly applies to our Leap Ambassadors Community, especially when you think about the breadth and depth of those already in the community and their level of engagement. Simply put, the quality of the community starts with 1) the candidates ambassadors nominate and 2) how many of the ambassadors give of their time to vet proposed candidate slates and assist in onboarding new ambassadors.

Purpose

To this end, the GrowCom MC serves as a steward to ensure a vibrant, diverse, engaged community of ambassadors who have a strong affinity for the community’s purpose.

The MC functions as an advisor, sounding board, and check-and-balance to the Leap Ambassadors support team in adding new ambassadors and supporting overall ambassador engagement and participation.

Members of GrowCom MC are requested to:

• Provide stewardship and leadership to ensure broad diversity in race, gender, age, geography, and discipline
• Review initial slates of candidates to share insights and raise questions and concerns about the candidates prior to presentation to the community
• Provide guidance and advice to handling of sensitive issues or concerns raised about proposed candidates, or for that matter, ambassadors (e.g., incident in 2017 of what some felt was a “harsh” online exchange that had to be defused.)
• Make suggestions for ways to improve Leap team processes and interaction with candidates and the community.

The vast majority of the MC’s communication, discussion, and exchange is achieved by email (via use of Google Groups). From time to time, a phone call, conference call, or GoToMeeting session for more in-depth discussion may be requested.
