Mickey Levitan has an unusual combination of leadership and entrepreneurial experiences in the nonprofit, government, and business sectors where his consistent focus has been building high performing teams that make things better. Most recently, he has been a Visiting Fellow at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, doing research and development on a program that helps nonprofits surmount common barriers to extending the reach and impact of successful programs, while teaching, facilitating organizational strengthening at the school, advising nonprofit, and getting into other sorts of trouble. Mickey’s early career was spent with Peace Corps and Save the Children in Africa and Asia, doing hands-on community development that provided a visceral understanding of the challenges facing social entrepreneurs. In subsequent roles in the corporate world with Cummins, Apple and Emmis Communications, Mickey led organizational change efforts to build world class workforces, organizations and workplaces, recognized in numerous “Best Places to Work” awards.
