Biography

Andrew Lee (Seneca) is an advocate, adviser, board member, and father whose career spans the fields of philanthropy, American Indian affairs, and health care.  Andrew began his career at the Ford Foundation in the mid-1990s.  He then served as executive director of the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development, where he founded the globally replicated “Honoring Nations” awards program and co-authored The State of the Native Nations.  From 2005 to 2015, Andrew worked at Aetna, where he held a variety of executive roles, including head of public policy, president of a technology start-up, and chief of staff to the president/CEO.

Among his current board responsibilities, Andrew is vice chairman of US Lacrosse, a member of the board of governors for the Harvard Project’s Honoring Nations program, a director of the Tewaaraton Foundation, and an adviser to numerous organizations working in Indian Country. He is the former chairman of the board of trustees of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and has served on nonprofit and business boards in philanthropy, arts and culture, private equity/manufacturing, mediation, and think tanks/academic institutions.

Andrew is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders; is a recipient of the National Congress of American Indians’ Native American Leadership Award; has twice testified before the US Senate; and speaks regularly at national conferences and global symposia.

Andrew received an AB from Hamilton College, where he played lacrosse for four years, and an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School.  Andrew, his wife, and three sons live in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and his extended family resides on the Seneca Nation’s Cattaraugus Territory.  In his spare time, Andrew enjoys flyfishing, hunting, playing and coaching lacrosse, skiing, and riding his Harley Davidson.
