Lisa Johnson is the director of the National Institute for Work and Learning at FHI 360. She leads and implements the strategic planning efforts, partnership development, staff development and ensures high performance of the department. The portfolio of programs includes; employer engagement projects, re-entry programs, college and career readiness and workforce development programs with a focus on youth and young adults.

Ms. Johnson directs multiple federal and corporate sponsored programs. She oversees the design, implementation, capacity building and research and evaluation components of Bridge to Employment, one of Johnson & Johnson’s lighthouse initiatives. She also serves as the project director for Johnson & Johnson’s WiSTEM2D initiative (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design). With the objective of increasing representation of women in science and technical fields, she supports the implementation of a multifaceted approach to support and inspire girls and women of all ages in their pursuit of STEMsup>2D studies and careers. Both initiatives include intentional training of employees in youth development principles and tips and strategies for promoting gender equality working with young people.

To further her passion of supporting equity for youth populations, she serves in leadership roles for two different organizations. Ms. Johnson is the co-convener of the Communities Collaborating to Reconnect Youth Network and serves as vice chair of the National Youth Employment Coalition. For both organizations she provides expertise on the design and delivery of education, training, leadership, and career development services for communities with opportunity youth and young people in marginalized environments.
